6 Tampa Bay Breweries To Check Out
Want to know what else we’re known for? Beer. Specifically, our local breweries. There are almost too many to count, and we can’t include them all in one post. But if you need a place to start to find a locally crafted beer and start touring breweries across Tampa, check out our list.
Note: Drink responsibly and never drink and drive. You must be 21 and up to access the brewery websites or to consume alcohol.
BRU Florida Growler Bar
The Tampa Bay area is home to dozens of amazing craft beers, but not every brewery cans or bottles their brew so you can enjoy it at home. You have to find a bar or restaurant serving your favorite. Once Florida legalized the 64 ounce growler, Christian and Jillian Brugal, the founders of BRU Florida Growler Bar saw an opportunity and sprang into action. You can enjoy your favorite craft beer at their bar like Shooter Brown from Pair O'Dice Brewing (Brown ale) in Clearwater or The Other West Coast (IPA) from Escape Brewing Company in Trinity - or take it to go in a 32 or 64 ounce growler.
Barlow Mow Brewing Company
At Barlow Mow Brewing Company, you get excellent beer, delicious food, and a great atmosphere in the heart of Largo. They offer more than a dozen beers on tap as well as a core group of specialty brews. Throughout the year, they also add a few seasonal choices like Tinsel, a holiday spiced ale or Lord of the Gourd, a pumpkin porter.
Bastet Brewing is crafting not just beers but ciders and ales as well while also celebrating the Egyptian tradition of beer and brewing. Bastet was an Egyptian goddess, and the company is named for her. They’re frequently out at beer tasting and other local events. When you get a chance to try their beer, consider the Manly Vanilla Porter, Surreal Oatmeal, Fuzzy Frenchman, or one of their many other options.
Green Bench Brewing
Downtown St. Pete
Green Bench Brewing, located in St. Pete Beach, was named a top 10 brewery for 2015 and 2016. You know they’ve got to have good beer. Want to see how their beers and ales are made? Schedule a tour of their facilities and taste their brews for yourself. Their beer garden hosts live music, food trucks, and other events on the weekends so it’s also a good place to relax with a cold one.
7venth Sun Brewery
7venth Sun Brewery has only been open since 2012, but they’re going strong and keeping things fresh and new all the time. Their specialties include IPAs, Belgian-style beer, and spirit barrel-aged beer. When you go, leave yourself a little time. They’ve usually got several beers on tap you’ll want to try like a chocolate milk stout called Kitty Likes the Milk or a creamsicle wheat called Graffiti Orange.
Tampa Bay Brew Bus
You can go to Tampa Bay Brew Bus for the beer like a red ale known as the Rollin’ Dirty or the IPA called Last Stop. You can go for the food in their eatery appetizers or sandwiches. But what you really want to do is go for one of their Brew Bus tours. They’ll take you on a tour of local breweries around the area. They weren’t kidding when they called themselves the Brew Bus.
These are just a small taste of what the Tampa Bay area has to offer in terms of local craft beer. The Tampa Bay Times has a brewery map for something they call Drink Your Way Around Tampa if you’d like to try even more.
Wish you lived here year-round so you could try new beer all the time? We can help!
